Philosophy of Teaching

My personal vision of Special Education is not from many years of experience in teaching; I have not never thought on a school.  My own experiences have inspired me, and they still encourage me to become a teacher.  Gabriela was very quiet, unique in her way and not social at all, she is my oldest sister.  When she got to second grade, her teacher said to my parents “it is a waste of your money, and my time to have your daughter at school, she will never learn to write.”  On that same day, my dad said, “Gabriela will learn to read, and I will teach her.”
A few months later Gabriela was reading.  However, her challenges and struggles at school did not end, the lack of teaching strategies, modification and not being diagnosed; Gabriela was not able to finish school. A few years later when Gabriela was around twenty-four years, she got the opportunity to come to North America, she was diagnosed with ADHD.  Finally, Gabriela was able to understand what was happening to her, and returned to Bolivia with hope, once my sister was there Gabriela decided to write a book Fragmentos de Mi Alma, the book was a success on all South America. Thru the years, Gabriela gains knowledge, and she was the founder of a nonprofit organization in Bolivia Red Dia, Discapacidad, Integracion, Apoyo.

My parents did not give up on Gabriela, and on the adversities, Gabriela was facing there was not a moment that my parents did not stop believing in her.  As a teacher, I want a classroom that is safe and supportive of values, uniqueness, individuality, and creativity will be celebrated.  I have the opportunity to influence our nation, the responsibility I have on my hands is difficult to measure. I believe, by modeling, I'm setting the sample to the next generation and impacting their lives for years to come. My mission is to believe.  I want to be the one to say to the parents and children "they can do it."  I will develop on students with a growth mindset, critical thinking and give them essential knowledge and skills to their future success. Building on them self-confidence, positivity, respectful relationships.  As well, help children feel and think they have a great value in spite of their limitations and differences they are not different by them.  I want to provide to them the steps need it on the learning with positive reinforcement, setting long-term and short-term goals (academic, social, emotional); achieving independence and self-trust while implementing the Curriculum.

Assessment

Flubaroo  combine with Google Forms make an excellent tool for teachers.  It helps to read assignments and assessments, gets report and analysis on students performance.  The steps shown below are taking from  http://www.flubaroo.com/home .  Because I'm new on Flubaroo it was essential for me to follow the steps of Flubaroo so I can have a better idea; it seems a straightforward tool to use and will help me for the assessment of students.  However, the traditional way for assessments without technology may apply for some of the students I may have.  I will be working on a Special Education classroom, and each student may have individualizations task that may need to be graded in different ways. Step 1:  Create an assignment   Create a new Google Form If there is an existing Google Spreadsheet, it allows you to recreate associated form by clicking "Tools/ "Create a form" as shown below The other option is going...

We are lkiveing on a technology world, where technology changes every day, and there is a need for Educators to teach technology.  Now a days, teachers as well as students use the internet for essays, stories, presentations and many different thinks.  After, some reading and thinking, there are some goals that it would be essential to include in a  classroom when they are using the internet to find information. The first goal,  will be to make sure the internet is a safe resource for the students. Each student should be aware of some of the safety steps when they are navigating the web.  Like, thinking before posting something, protect their privacy and information, follow the acceptable school rules, not allowing cyberbullying, and give proper credit when using other peoples work, communicate respectfully, use digital tools to talk with people, not about them, and remember that anything posted online is permanent.
