The Foundation of Global Citizen gives a clear concept of its meaning. “The Global Citizen is above all a philanthropist, a friend to all humankind who seeks to help others. It is the Global Citizen who can make the grand-scale decisions that will shift the world onto a better, more secure and sustainable path.”
The Global Goals For Sustainable Development gives 17 Goals that are great to incorporate on a classroom.
In the world that we live in, it gets challenging to teach of being a friend to humankind. The news is full of many different events, events, that may affect us directly or indirectly. The decline of humanity has been seen all over the world. Sadly, our students are taught to hide in different places in the school on the occasion of an intruder.
Sheltering Global Citizens will start with me, the teacher. Modeling kindness to the students and everyone in the school and adding a lesson on the 17 goals . The classroom will engage in different acts of kindness like helping their peers, being part of a fundraiser that has meaning to them, helping on animal shelters. Students not only will be aware of the people on their surroundings but they will learn there are other countries with children like them facing the same needs. They will learn to bring their friendship across the world by connecting to another student by email. Finally, the goal will be for students to see the good of people in spite of all the differences.
